Éléments de description
Des critères distinctifs sont décrit sur le site Internet de Bechly ([1998]) sur la base de la description détaillée de la vesicula spermalis des ♂. - Nervation alaire [→] - La partie la plus distale de l'aire antesubnodale entre RA et RP est dépourvue de nervures antesubnodales, il n'y a pas de vénation cubito-anales accessoires dans l'espace submédian entre le croisement CuP et le PSA ; lels triangles discoïdaux seulement divisés en deux cellules par une seule nervure transversale (inconstant) (Bechly [1998]).
Commentaires
Bechly ([2018]) place sous les Neoaeshnida la famille des Gomphaeschnidae qui permet de placer de manière pertinente quelques genres qui étaient restés en situation incertaine (inc. sedis) jusqu'alors (ad Aeshnidae). Je propose donc de restaurer cette famille au même endroit dans la Classification phylogénétique. Dans la mesure où elle ne comprend que deux sous-familles dont une seule actuelle (Gomphaeschninae + Gomphaeschnaoidinae Ŧ), je ne l'utilise pas pour motif de simplification [2 janvier 2024].
