Peters & Theishinger (2007) splitent la famille des Aeshnidae s.l. en Telephlebiidae, Brachytronidae et Aeshnidae, option que j'adopte au moins dès 2014 (Deliry 2014). Les genres présents dans cette famille sont laissés dans la famille des Aeshnidae s.l. dans le cadre de la Classification officielle (Paulson & al. [2021]).
