- ↑ La racine ferrugin... est source de confusion (cf. nom. ambig.[?]) : Ce taxonyme présente une certaine déclinaison au XVIIIème siècle accompagnée d'un jeu de confusions. Certaines rédactions seraient en fait valides, mais ne les a-t'on pas écartées afin de gérer cet état de confusions :
- Libellula ferruginea Fabricius, 1775 correspond à Orthemis ferruginea qui a donc fait carrière.
- Libellula ferruginata Fabricius, 1781 (nomen oblitum) correspond à Crocothemis erythraea.
- Libellula ferruginea Gmelin, 1788 (nec Fabricius, 1775) correspond à Crocothemis servilia.
- Libellula ferruginea Vander Linden, 1825 (nec Fabricius, 1793) correspond à Crocothemis erythraea.
- Libellula ferrugaria Rambur, 1842 correspond à Crocothemis sanguinolenta
