Historique

Les genres Austrolestes et Indolestes, initialement placés dans les Lestidae, sont proposés pour cette nouvelle famille (Deliry 2014, 2018) qui reste à décrire. Une publication est à prévoir pour valider cette option [A publier !]. Bybee & al. (2021) les ont aussi rapprochées et ils ajoutent les Sympecma. Il y a selon ces auteurs une convergence biologique qui les rapprochent. En effet, ils résistent à la période froide (Indolestes et Sympecma) ou à des périodes sèches (Austrolestes) à l'état imaginal, si bien que le développement larvaires est plus court que l'état imaginal chez les espèces correspondantes. Ceci renforce la notion de rapprochement des deux premiers genres associés ici dans ma nouvelle famille des Indolestidae, toutefois le cas de Sympecma me semble être une simple convergence biologique : je ne les associe donc pas [2021] aux Indolestidae malgré le rapprochement signalé plus haut et fait chez Bybee & al. (2021).

Phylogénétique

Cette famille n'a de valeur que phylogénétique, les genres associés restent dans la famille des Lestidae dans le cas de la classification officielle.
