	La taxonomie du genre ''[[Cordulegaster]]'' Leach ''in'' Brewster, 1815 en Grèce n'est pas complètement comprise. Le statut taxonomique des sous-espèces ''[[Cordulegaster helladica buchholzi]]'' (Lohmann, 1993), ''[[Cordulegaster helladica kastalia]]'' (Lohmann, 1993), et ''[[Cordulegaster heros pelionensis]]'' Theischinger, 1979 n'était toujours pas clair à ce jour. Nous avons appliqué une approche de génétique moléculaire en utilisant des séquences de fragments d'ADN mitochondrial et nucléaire - cytochrome c oxydase I (COI) et Internal Transcribed Spacer 1 (ITS1). Cette approche a révélé que les spécimens actuellement attribués à ''[[Cordulegaster heros pelionensis]]'' devraient être considérés comme conspécifiques au taxon subspécifique nommé, faisant de ''[[Cordulegaster heros]]'' une espèce monotypique. Deux lignes monophylétiques majeures ont été trouvées au sein des représentants grecs des espèces regroupées autour de ''[[Cordulegaster bidentata]]'' Selys, 1843 : le clade de l'endémique européen ''[[Cordulegaster bidentata]]'' et le clade composé de trois espèces : ''[[Cordulegaster helladica]]'' (Lohmann, 1993), ''[[Cordulegaster buchholzi]]'' (''stat. nov.'', élevé au rang d'espèce), et ''[[Cordulegaster insignis]]'' Schneider, 1845. ''[[Cordulegaster helladica]]'' est limité au Péloponnèse. ''[[Cordulegaster buchholzi]]'' n'est pas limité aux Cyclades comme on le pensait auparavant, mais est largement répandu depuis les Cyclades sur l'île Euboea jusqu'au sud-est de la Grèce continentale et atteint à l'ouest près du Mont Parnasse, où il s'hybride avec ''[[Cordulegaster bidentata]]''. L'hybridation entre ''[[Cordulegaster bidentata]]'' et ''[[Cordulegaster buchholzi]]'' a été détectée à la Source Castalienne, où dans l'Antiquité l'Oracle de Delphes était situé, et à quelques kilomètres à l'est de la Source Castalienne. Ces hybrides avaient été précédemment nommés ''[[Cordulesgaster helladica kastalia]]''. Dans le cas de ''[[Cordulegaster insignis montandoni]]'' St. Quentin, 1971, nous avons étudié des spécimens à quelques kilomètres de la localité type en Roumanie, qui ont tous révélé des hybrides entre ''[[Cordulegaster bidentata]]'' et ''[[Cordulegaster insignis]]''. Cependant, nous ne savons pas si les spécimens ressemblant phénotypiquement à ''[[Cordulegaster insignis]]'' plus à l'ouest dans le SE des Balkans représentent une population isolée de ''[[Cordulegaster insignis]]'' dans l'aire de répartition de ''[[Cordulegaster bidentata]]'' ou appartiennent à une zone d'hybridation plus large entre ''[[Cordulegaster bidentata]]'' et ''[[Cordulegaster insignis]]''.
